Rome’s piazzas and the Baroque in Rome

Campo de’ Fiori, Piazza Navona with Bernini’s splendid Four Rivers Fountain, Piazza di Spagna, Piazza di Trevi and Fontana di Trevi, Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Venezia, Piazza del Campidoglio, designed by Michelangelo, Piazza Trilussa and Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere.
Baroque is the most important artistic style of the 17th century, began around 1600 in Rome and spread to most of Europe. Visit: Il Gesù, officially known as “The Church of the Most Holy Name of Jesus”, and churches with masterpieces of Michelangelo Merisi, Italian painter known as Caravaggio (San Luigi dei Francesi and Santa Maria del Popolo).
