Option 1

Historic Centre

A 3 hours walking tour through the most beautiful part of the city: designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the historic centre combines artistic and architectural highlights of different periods: Roman monuments: the Pantheon, the column of Marcus Aurelius, etc., Renaissance residences and squares: “la Cancelleria”, piazza Farnese, Campo de’ Fiori, etc., Baroque masterpieces: Trevi fountain and piazza Navona with the Four Rivers Fountain.

This enjoyable walk helps visitors not only to follow the development of Italian art, but also to experience Roman life, atmosphere, culture and food.

A 3 hours walking tour inside the archaeological area, includes the Roman Forum and the Colosseum.

Vatican

A 3 hours tour includes: a small part of the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, St. Peter’s Square.

Option 4

A day in ancient Rome

No need to rush! Ancient Rome deserves more than three hours amidst its madding crowd of tourists. Its monuments are masterpieces of engineering and today they represent an important part of the world’s architectural and artistic heritage. Visit the Forum Boarium,

continue to the Capitoline hill, Roman Forum, the Palatine hill, Circus Maximus. We will expend a great deal of time in the Colosseum and at the Imperial Forums. Twenty minute walk from the Forums, we will see the infamous place where Julius Caesar was stabbed to death – Largo Argentina. Our tour end at the Pantheon.

Option 5

An alternative view of ancient Rome: Underground Rome and the Via Appia.

For those who do not like tourist itineraries

1) Underground Rome

Explore two of Rome’s many subterranean buildings (choose two of the three following): San Clemente, the Roman Houses of the Celio Hill or the Stadium of Domitian.

2) Ancient Rome outside the walls

This tour enables you to see a few fundamental elements of ancient Rome which are located outside the historic centre. Visit the Baths of Caracalla, the Appian way, the Park of the aqueducts, the Catacombs of Domitilla.

This itinerary can be organized every day except for Tuesday.

Option 6

Baroque Rome and Caravaggio

1 Full-day Tour, Lunch included, Walking-tour

For those who have seen the highlights and are interested in architecture and art history:

During this tour you will become familiar with two ingenious 17th century architects who were not only artists in their own right, but also bitter rivals: Gianlorenzo Bernini and Francesco Borromini. This itinerary includes most of their masterpieces: S. Maria della Vittoria (Estasi di S. Teresa), S. Andrea al Quirinale, S. Carlino alle Quattro Fontane, S. Ivo alla Sapienza (not inside), Piazza Navona. In the afternoon we focus on paintings.

Visit the churches Il Gesù, S. Ignazio di Loyola, S. Luigi dei Francesi, Sant’Agostino, Santa Maria del Popolo.

This itinerary can be organized on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Option 7

The Borghese Gallery

Not to be missed. It is Rome’s most beautiful museum. Commissioned in the 16th century by Cardinal Scipione Borghese to house his famous collection of paintings and statues, this building still retains the atmosphere and charm of a private villa. The rooms are dazzling with their marble and fresco decorations.

Reservation required in advance. Closed on Monday. 1 hour and 45 minutes maximum inside the Museum – 2,5 hours including introduction.

Rome in the movies

An alternative kind of touring Rome, for those who love films and pictures.

We follow the most famous actors from the 1950’s to the present day. We looking at the city through the eyes of a film director.

An exclusive visit: Aristocratic Palazzi.

They open only for you!

The itinerary includes one of the two following palazzi, usually closed to the public, can only be visited with special permission. Make your choice: Palazzo Colonna and Princess Isabelle’s private apartments or Palazzo Sacchetti.

A day in the Vatican

An in-depth itinerary designed for art-lovers.

It includes a 5 hours tour of the Vatican followed by a tour of Castel Sant’Angelo.

You will visit: All the main collections of the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, St. Peter’s Square, Castel Sant’Angelo, 10 min. walk from St. Peter’s Square.

The tour starts in your Hotel with the explanation of the Sistine Chapel. It includes two breaks: a light lunch inside the Vatican and a second break on the way to the Castel Sant’Angelo, at one of the Cafes of the fascinating Borgo district.

For the Vatican: Priority Entrance, no line access.

Clients are reminded that in the high season the Vatican in particularly crowded and – in addition to the habitual one-way system – the Vatican often obliges visitors to follow arbitrary itineraries, by opening some collections and closing others, at the last moment. As a result, it is not always possible to adhere to the itinerary and the timetable requested. We are not responsible for changes and problems due to the Vatican Management.

Ostia: the excavations

Half-day Tour

The excavations at Ostia, although less well preserved, are as important as those of Pompei. Ostia is the best example of a commercial town, based on trade, industry and its harbour. You can stroll along the streets, look at the shops, enter a few houses with mosaic, the Theater, the Forum and one of many refined Baths. You can admire temples belonging to all religions of the ancient world. Ostia is one of the few places in the world to give a glimpse of daily life in the Roman Empire. Great tour for children, too.

Tivoli: Villa D’Este and Villa Adriana

Villa D’Este was built by Cardinal Ippolito II D’Este, the richest and the last of the great Renaissance cardinals, who was also a collector and patron of the arts.

Hadrian’s Villa, built by emperor Hadrian (24 January, 76 AD – 10 July, 138 AD), was a gigantic estate which included banqueting halls, libraries, theaters, bath complexes and underground passageways.

Planner: When to go to Rome?

Because it offers activities indoors and out, Rome rate as all-season destination. Spring and fall are the best times to visit, with mild temperatures. Come August, many shops and restaurants close as locals head out for vacation.
